The ALS Fundraiser and book signing Cheryl and Ismail held on April 16, 2015 at California Pizza Kitchen in Simi Valley, CA was a big success. Friends and supporters filled the restaurant, and California Pizza Kitchen will donate to The ALS Association 20% of all food and beverages purchased by participants. In addition, many generous supporters put large amounts of cash and checks into a “donation jar” sitting on the table.
Many people purchased copies of One Blink at a Time. Ismail and Cheryl signed each book purchased and included a personal note and a sticker with Ismail’s photo, a quote from one of his chapters in the book, “Life is a celebration!”, and a copy of his signature, written years ago before he lost his ability to write. Ismail and Cheryl will be donating $5.00 to the ALS Association for each book sold at the fundraiser.
“Ismail and I are overwhelmed with gratitude for the support and generosity of our friends who made this fundraiser a fantastic success!” Cheryl said. “It was wonderful seeing so many of our friends, some who traveled long distances to join us and a few we haven’t seen in several years. It was also great making some new friends who heard about the event and came to join us and give us support.”
“We hope that other ALS fundraising events will be as successful as this one,” Ismail said. “Every dollar raised to defeat ALS is a great achievement.”
