More and more people throughout the country and the world, including celebrities, politicians, and corporate giants are videotaping themselves dumping buckets of ice water on their heads and then challenging their friends to do the same to raise awareness and funds to defeat ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease)!
You may have seen some of the videos. They’re posted all over social media and have been shown on television. As a result, The ALS Association has received $13.3 million in donations as of August 17, 2014, compared to $1.7 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 17) (http://www.alsa.org/news/media/press-releases/ice-bucket-challenge-inspires.html).
Ismail and Cheryl took the Ice Bucket Challenge with two of their dear friends, Phil and Jane Gries. Phil and Jane, residents of New York, were in California for a short visit, and before they knew it, they were dumping buckets of ice water over their heads!

If you have not yet taken the Ice Bucket Challenge, why not join in the fun? It’s for a great cause! Just videotape yourself dumping ice water on your head and challenge some of your friends to do the same. They will have 24 hours to accept the challenge and douse themselves with ice water or donate $100 to the ALS Association. Then post your video on Facebook or other social media, or send it out by email to all your friends and family.
Posts on social media should include the hashtag #IceBucketChallenge and mention that the challenge is to raise awareness and funds for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
The links below will take you to Ismail’s ALS Walk pages, where donations can be made to Ismail’s walk team, Ismail’s Supporters.
