May 8th is National ALS Awareness Day, and the ALS Association will be holding its 2014 Public Policy Conference in Washington DC May 7-May 9.
Advocates will meet with Members of Congress to share their personal ALS stories and explain why more must be done in the fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Because this year is the 75th anniversary of Lou Gehrig‘s historic speech, the ALS Association is creating ALS Awareness Baseball Cards, featuring the pictures and personal stories of many individuals living with ALS.
Cheryl will be representing Ismail at the conference, and she will be presenting Ismail’s baseball card to their congressional representative to build awareness of the disease and advocate for funding of ALS research.
She will also have with her excerpts from their new book Tears, Laughs and Triumphs: A Thirty Year Journey with ALS for those who are interested in supporting its publication.
Hope to see you there!
